Your home will be their home, so they must feel comfortable and supported to provide the best care for your children. Although they will likely become "part of your family" they will be your employee and you will need to meet your employment obligations.

The following details will give you an idea of basic requirements.

• Their own room with a comfortable bed and linens.
• Access to a clean bathroom or ideally, their own dedicated bathroom
• A schedule of hours, a job description of agreed duties
• All employment obligations in line with Fair Work Australia

Most Live-in nannies have a minimum of three years of experience in childcare or as a career nanny.  It may be their first role as a live-in nanny. 

You will receive a detailed profile of each candidate that will include previous employment experience, any relevant qualifications and certificates, details regarding driving children safely, health and fitness level, skills and attributes, interests, and a few fun facts along with the reason why they are a suitable candidate.

Understanding the costs involved helps families make informed decisions:

Your agency placement fee starts from $995 and may be higher as each position has different moving parts.  A non-refundable deposit of $350 is required to commence the process.

• Hourly pay rates depend on the nannies experience, number of children and role responsibilities but as a guide it may range from $28 to $50 per hour.
• Live-in nannies are covered under the Miscellaneous Award
• Families may deduct costs for board and lodging where applicable
• Additional costs include:
  • Workers’ compensation insurance
  • Superannuation (if over 30 hours per week)
